The Exciting Disruptors launch event explored how autonomous vehicles are changing the way we think about the approach to the location, design and planning of new settlements and urban extensions of the future. This demonstrated what the real estate sector needs to consider is, beyond property and planning, how technology such as 3D printing, AI and drones are changing the way we approach real estate for the future.  Tell us what disruptor you think we are going to see in 2018 and how it is going to impact the way you are working today?  Get yourself to the top of the leader board by 28 March 2018 and win a bottle of Champagne!

On Wednesday 8 November, we hosted the Exciting Disruptors launch event in London. Speakers from Bosch UK, Peter Brett Associates, the Homes and Communities Agency, Easymile and Mills & Reeve explored how autonomous vehicles are set to challenge and influence our approach to infrastructure planning, real estate investment, placemaking and how we plan new settlements and urban extensions. The event posed some thought-provoking questions, issues raised included how and, more importantly, if we will continue to own cars, whether autonomous vehicles will ease congestion and pollution, road safety, data and cyber protection, and public acceptance of driverless vehicles. Beverley Firth, head of real estate at Mills & Reeve, said: “It was fascinating to hear the ’big thinking’ that is already happening in the industry and the event highlighted the need for a cohesive, joined-up approach to the questions that were raised. We've heard the panels views and now we want to put some of the issues raised to you to hear your thoughts. Please read the discussions below and leave your comments!
